Guidance for Dhyana

No teacher can directly teach Dhyana; it is a spontaneous and personal experience that arises from within. A teacher can, however, guide you through various techniques of Pratyahara and Dharana, providing tools and practices that prepare the mind and body for this deeper state of meditation.

The stages of “Pratyahara, Dharana & Dhyana” represent the progression from external awareness to profound internal focus, leading to the ultimate state of meditation. Each practice builds upon the previous one, guiding you toward a more profound and spontaneous experience of meditation. The key highlights of the methods are:

Pratyahara

It is the practice of withdrawing the senses from external stimuli to redirect attention inward. It is often considered the first step in advanced meditation, creating a space for deeper concentration and introspection. It helps in reducing the  sensory overload, enhances focus inward and promote inner awareness about thoughts and feelings.

Dharana

It refers to the practice of concentration, where the mind is trained to focus on a single object, thought, or concept. It is a crucial step in developing the ability to meditate effectively. It clears the mental clutter, improves cognitive functions and builds inner stillness and stability.

Dhyana

It is the state of deep, uninterrupted meditation where the mind transcends ordinary thoughts and enters a state of pure awareness. It is a spontaneous process that arises from the consistent practice of Pratyahara and Dharana.
